Hayden and Megan met the "old-fashioned way" as they like to call it, also known as "through friends" in the fall of 2021. Megan had just moved to Colorado to strike out on her own, and Hayden had just moved into his downtown Denver apartment. They were both in their "yes seasons" and were open to meeting new friends and having new experiences! Their friends, Sam and David, invited them on a hike in Frisco, followed by lunch at a Mexican restaurant where, after a few strawberry margaritas, the conversation really started to flow. They all became immediate friends after that!
After a few months of friendly hangs, Hayden began making his move little by little, texting cat memes to Megan and asking her about the traffic on the way to work (it somehow worked on Megan), until finally they "platonically" met up at a brewery just the two of them and talked and laughed until the brewery closed. They went to Dallas and Kansas City for Christmas that year and texted the entire time, and when they finally got back to Denver and went to their first Decadence New Year's Eve celebration, they shared a kiss at midnight - and the rest is history. UNTIL Megan got COVID at Decedance and had to quarantine for ten days afterwards. Finally, they went on their first official date on day ten of the quarantine, and have been inseparable ever since.
Since then, they’ve lived a whole lot of life together, from countless brewery days and fun Denver nights out to traveling the world (including Ireland, the British Virgin Islands, Maine, Seattle, Hawaii, Florida, and more). They moved into Hayden’s one-bedroom apartment (yikes — not enough space for two people and two cats) before quickly upgrading to their current apartment in Broomfield. Along the way, they’ve celebrated friends at ten different weddings, spent holidays with family, loved on their two kitties a lot, danced at Red Rocks shows, explored Colorado on countless hikes, and fallen more in love with each other every single day.
When they got engaged, Hayden planned an incredible weekend to celebrate! He took Megan on a hike in Evergreen and at the top, pulled out the ring. They both cried! Afterwards, he took her to their favorite post-hike brewery in Evergreen where he stalled and kept ordering more beer because the Airbnb (where both families were patiently waiting) was still being cleaned. Megan was feeling very impatient but persevered through beer. When they finally arrived at the Airbnb, our families were waiting inside with champagne and hugs. It was "the best weekend of Megan's life". (so far!)
